BIOGRAPHY

Larry Barbee, is a guitarist, song writer, and teacher.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts Larry continued his studies with master guitarist Harry Leahey (RCA).
He was a member of the Visual and Performing Arts faculty at Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, New Jersey for 30 years where he taught courses in Applied Guitar, Classroom Guitar, The History and Culture of Rock and Roll, Survey of Jazz, and directed the RVCC Jazz Ensemble.
In 1990, Larry organized the contemporary jazz group, Passages, which in 1993 released the CD Unspoken Dreams on Turnip the Music label. The CD garnered very favorable reviews and received air play from radio stations throughout the country.
He also formed the Larry Barbee group and played in many formats including Trios, Duos, and Solo guitar.
Larry has been involved with music education at every level from pre-K through college. In addition to RVCC, he taught at the Purnell School in Pottersville, NJ. He developed curriculum and taught at colleges in New Jersey and New York and has a long-standing private teaching practice.
He recorded Unspoken Dreams with Passages and recorded Cushetunk and Remembrance under his own name.
